The Sidewalk Cafe

Sidewalk Cafe on Venice Beach has a space in my heart forever and always because it is the only restaurant in Los Angeles that you can enjoy quality food while watching street performers against the backdrop of the beautiful ocean.

There fried shrimp platter is delicious and comes with an order of thick cut fries. I always order the same thing every time I go. (Picture Update Soon)

Watch the video below to see some of the awesome things you can do on Venice Beach.

Panns: Better than Chicken & Waffles

Pann's is historically know for being the place were "Pulp Ficition" was shot featuring Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta. This little diner is an overlooked jewel in Culver City.

After 5 years of being in Los Angeles I never knew about this place. Anytime friends came in town they wanted to go to Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles. I promise you, if you try Pann's you will never go back to Roscoes.

The portions were plentiful and the flavors were delicious. I felt like I was cheating on my waffle with my eggs. Many people I know don't have high expectations for eggs from restaurants that aren't five stars. But, Pann's eggs have a fighting chance to contend with the best. I was surprised by the fluffiness of the eggs.

Their waffle reminded me of one of my favorite meals from Ihop but it tasted so much better. You could never get a waffle with whipped cream and strawberries at Roscoes. It's like Pann's did everything right.

Their fried chicken was beautifully golden and had a nice crispy skin with lots of meat.  It was hard to tell which was the best part of the meal because everything was so good.

Taste on Melrose

Taste on Melrose is one place you need to try. It is in perfect proximity to the Beverly Center and the Sunset Strip, right along Melrose in West Hollywood.

Mouth watering food is on the top of the list at Taste, right along with service and decor. The hostess was friendly and able to seat my guest and I instantly. The ambience took over the room with red table lit candles and low lighting over the bar.

Considering the location, the prices are actually cheaper than I expected. I order the 8oz hanger steak in all of its glory. Mash potatoes laid underneath two slice of melt-in-you mouth steak, topped with a crisp onion ring. The portions looked a little Euro but, the richness of it will fill you up.

If your looking for a happy hour spot this would be my recommendation. My rasberry mojito -freshly made to perfection- deserved an award because they used real fruit and not artificial flavors. The ratio of liquor to juice was on point!

I would never order a salad at a restaurant but my friend did. She is one of those, "I'm watching my figure" type of gals. She ordered the roasted vegtables & quinoa salad.  Ok, I admit I tried it and mhmm. . .was  it delicious. Next time I might actually order a salad prior to my delicious steak! LOL

Review: Hollywood Night Club Emerson (Mike Jay, Hit Boy, Diamond, Trinidad James Video)

Trinidad James Performs at Emerson Night Club In Hollywood .

Los Angeles keeps the award for: City that Parties Hard,Goes to Bed Early. With a line of beauties and influentials, Hollywood  showed out and turned up with Trinidad James! As soon as you enter the club lights are shining everywhere and the bar is ready to be used. Emerson embodies the true feel of a hollywood Nightclub.

Los Angeles clubs are full of glam an allure that do not wait until the weekend to turn up. On a Tuesday night, Emerson felt like a weekend and I loved it! The benefits of living in a city with many musicians, entertainers, and social climbers are there is never a dull moment.

Luckily, my friend and I bypassed the velvet rope after a few text message exchanges with my homeboy.  There is always this sense of urgency to get off the streets and in to the club when your wearing a dress in 40 degree weather, you know? Los Angeles will have you feeling like you deserve VIP and the lines aren't for you. If the lines are for you, you will need to pay a $20 cover.

Amongst a handlful of celebrities, Sanna Lathan looked beautiful exiting the building in an outfit similar to what she wore to "The Best Man Holiday" Premiere. On the dance floor tables overflowed with a mix of guys and girls. Singer, Mike Jay shared a table with producer Hit Boy and rapper Diamond while Trinadad performed a few songs for the crowd.

Mike Jay ft. YG- "For A Week".

Here is the video of Trinidad performing. Enjoy!

SF Date Night: Calzones

Hello to all of my food aficionados! Guess who stumbled upon Open Table's "Diners' Choice" Winner of 2013 and 2012. There is a trendy little community in San Francisco called North Beach where Columbus Avenue is home to great resteraunts and hangout spots.

"Calzones" catches the eye of many withs its gleaming red lights and Italian outdoor patio. It is reminisce of "Roman Holiday" featuring Audrey Hepburn because of the heavy foot-traffic and decor. Impress your date with good food and nice scenery in an intimate setting at Calzones.

Find Calzones at
 430 Columbus Avenue.

Rappers Are Stimulating the Economy

Rappers get a bad reputation for their lifestyle. Contrary to poplar belief they help us in more ways than just creating some of the catchiest jiggles used on Honey Nut Cheerios commercials. Rappers stimulate the economy by blowing large amounts of "bands" in clubs and stores.

The legacy of Hip-Hop has always been about outshining the competition. Outside of the four elements of Hip-Hop- Rapping, DJing, Breaking, and Graffiti)- our modern day Rap artist use their acquired wealth to show people that they have conquered societies stereotypes of the "kid from the ghetto who wouldn't amount to much". See it as you may but the slander, debauchery, and chauvinistic lyricism of artists are reaching the inner philandering heart of the masses from young to old.

In mainstream news The Huffington Post stated that rich people were hoarding their cash and thus keeping money out of the American economic rotation. My stance is that rich people should live more like rappers in order to relinquish their cash for the betterment of America. Who wouldn't want the bravado of a rapper?

The Reward Maven's Guide to Grocery Shopping: California

If your like me you grew up going to a few particular groceries stores that always carried a variety of your family's favorite foods. Your nose turned up at the sight of an ingredient change or a rebranding not knowing if the product you love would stay the same. Safeway & Luckys are two major grocery stores of Northern California. Their neighbors are Vons & Ralphs in Southern California. I will  list the best grocery stores to shop at while your in the East Bay or Southern California.

In the 1990's, Luckys was bought out by Albertsons which still holds on to a few supermarkets in Southern California. The major grocery stores in that region are Ralphs and Vons. In Northern California Safeway and Luckys have more familiarity amongst shoppers. Rewards for shopping at Luckys includes 5 cents per gallon of Shell gas points for every $50 spent and automatic discounts.

Rewards can be a great way to save while you shop. Ralphs allows customers to load their rewards cards with coupons for discounts at checkout. They also participate with Shell to give customers up to 20 cents per gallon of fuel with every 200 points earned. They sale Chobani yougurt 10/$10, Aidells Chicken Sausage at $5.99, and provide a section for specifically organic produce. On a $40 a week budget I was able to purchase: from a wide selection of pastries, fresh Banana Nut muffins, Aidells Chicken sausage, a handful of different foliage, and all of my favorite snacks.

Safeway is the best grocery store in Northern California carrying a range of organic and non organic produce. There are specific sections labeling fruits & vegetables organic. In addition to their selection of  produce they carry Aidells, which has the best chicken sausages ever! For every dollar spent you earn a point. These points have the same equivalence to Ralphs point being that: 100 points is 10 cents per gallon and 200 points in 20 cent per gallon of fuel. They let you save all the way up to $1 per gallon of fuel at Exxon Mobil if you earn 1,000 points.

Getting the most for your dollar is very important. That is why Safeway and Ralphs are two of my favorite grocery stores. With gas points and all of the food I like they have definitely made me into a loyal customer. If there are any ethnic specialities you would like to try that they do not carry go to 99 Ranch Market or Vallarta.
